This could be like waking up one morning years after your divorce with your ex-wife again beside you and wondering how long it is going to last this time.

I discovered a few years ago what kept bringing it back after being discontinued a few years. It was favored for use in .308 or 7.62 blanks in m14s. It was able with a stiff load to make the action function with just a paper wad. A seller of Surplus Military was selling it in 6Lb jugs for about $6.00 a Lb and would discount it more if you bought a case of four. The Jugs were or are about the size of a 1 gallon Bleach bottle. I asked him what the Source was and he replied it was salvaged from
7.62 Blank cartridges. I bought two cases and when I got it I tested it against my Loads with commercial Powder. Could not
define an difference in the Loading and accuracy. Now this was shooting Offhand so may not be a good test but I am still shooting it and have no reason to complain. Now in my time 1970 to now with Schuetzen Rifles it has been discontinued at least 3 times maybe 4. So will keep my eyes open still. Regards

I gathered up all of the commercial 4759 I could find when it became obvious that they were serious about discontinuing it this last time.  I also bought one of those bleach bottles full while they were still available.  I was hoping to do a lot more shooting in my retirement so I prepared by stockpiling the stuff I thought I would need.  I'm still waiting for all that free time I thought I would be devoting to my shooting!   Roll Eyes

Anything to keep SR4759 going as long as some of our rifles.
Wonder if we could contact the new/old IMR manufacturer
for current status.

On the back of recent loading manuals there are distributors
full addresses and telephone listings. My supply is holding out
for quite a spell now.  Being an FNG here-slow to test all the water...

Silvertip - not Ordinance - ASA, FA, Signal, Inf and MP.  Uncle Sugar was good to me.

Like some others, I too bought as much 4759 as I could find at decent prices when I first heard it was going to be discontinued. Not sure I'll use it in my lifetime, but I'd never sell any, just in case!

Seems like I too have become a defacto horder of 4759. I have way more left of an 8lb jug that I thought. Now that 4227 and H110 are giving me better performance in my one remaining hunting single shot, looks like I will be looking for a likely survivor to list in my will (Remainder of 8lb jug of 4759 goes to XXXX).

I've got 6 ounces left, so I'm good.

I'm in between the pair of you. It will last a long while if I just use it in the .32. Heaven help me if 4227 ever gets dumped.
I can't figger if the stuff they wanna make is gonna be 'the real deal' or just another made up thing that'll get a similar name like some of the recent additions to other lines. Wait 'n' see, huh?

Joe,

You haven't mentioned anything about old gunpowder being good garden fertilizer, have you?    Wink
