Experience with 1F and 40-50BN

Several black powder reloading resources recommend 45 to 50 grains of 1F rather than 2F. Supposedly the velocity is diminished by about 50fps but is more accurate.Anybody have any experience with the use of 1F and black powder cartridges specifically 40-50BN?

Don't know about the 40-50, but my 40-90bn sure likes Olde Eynsford 1f.

I am sure 1Fg will work in the 40-50SBN.  What the MV will be, could leave a lot to be desired.  If you use PP bullets, then you will have more room for powder.

Are you shooting paper at 200 yards?

Keep on hav'n fun!

When loading for the Sharps rifle of a friend in 40-50 BN I always use FFF Swiss. It has proven to give better accuracy than 1 1/2 F or FF. He only shoots at 200 yards and the load is very accurate and pleasant to shoot. His rifle is a original 1874 Sharps and we use 330 grain bullets over the charge of Swiss powder.
