Any idea of price at this point?

What did Yost sell them for?

At first glance, the action reminds me of my German system Koncurrence (spelling) Schuetzen rifle. They appear to have many things in common.

A $1000.00 for anything of high quality now days is really quite a bargain. If memory serves me right one of these actions
prior to the mentioned inprovments was attachedd to an RKS Rebar Barrel and shot a remarkably nice 250. So what is there not to like other than possibly not meeting the Traditional Schuetzen or BPCS rules.

The "original" Yost actions were a very, very good action.  That's why the reaining 20 actions sold-out in less that 2 months back in 2006.

In the past 12 years since then - there have been at least 2 different owners of Ed Yost's tooling, and nothing has been produced.

It would have been nice to see "original" actions come to the market place, instead of needless redesign, redesign, redesign, .... version 1, version 2, etc, etc, etc. - And nothing yet.

............. if it ani't broke ............. Undecided

The last actions that sold after Ed Yost's death had safeties along the right side of the top of the breech-block.

Those actions were marked "Yost Rifle Action Inc / Oshkosh WI".  Details of the safety were included with Ed Yost's blueprints and tooling when the business was sold back in 2006.

As far as the mainspring in concerned, I have 7 Yost rifles and have fired over 40,000 rounds and never had an issue  with a mainspring.  Ed Yost's instructions suggested loosening the mainspring during long periods of storage.  If you forget to re-tighten it, then you might have a problem.

As the son of a tool and die maker and as a mechanical engineer, I can appreciate the craftsmanship of the Yost action. I purchased one about five years ago and love the simple lines that hide a fine piece of machinery.  My late father an I spent hours talking about the action when it finally arrived.   I'm almost ashamed to admit that I have never actually made a rifle with the action but love holding it in my hands nonetheless.

I have cash ready for a Yost action version 2.0.  Bring it on.

I dug back into my correspondence and the unpolished action was listed at $599.00......polished action was listed at $675.00.
I had one and had Mark Penrod barrel it in 375 Winchester.   Sold it before I ever got it finished.   ( I think one of Ed Yost’s neighbors bought it as I recall.  Story of my life....momma and the kids need a new van)

Unfortunately when MaMa and the Kids are in need, the first thing to go is a Man's cherished firearms.

Yes, that is so.  But the experience of meeting, and talking to Ed Yost at Etna Green makes up for it. He was a real gentleman and talking to him was always an enlightening experience.
