Denver CGCA show

The CGCA show was good as always.

Had one get away from me on Thursday, which brought on sadness for a while, but I quickly recovered..

Highlights of the show was getting to see one of the original belt driven rifling machines from the Stevens factory!  An extensive collection of 1885 Winchester schuetzen rifles many of which were thought never to been fired!  Got to see and caress a Peterson/Schoyen Duplex Measure.  Picked up Ed Curtis and Tom Rowe's books on loading tools, (great information btw)..and as always got to meet scores of wonderful likely minded collectors and shooters as well some friends who frequent this forum.  A long 3 and 1/2 days, but well spent time.

Forgot to mention Tom Quigley's loading implements display was rather amazing.  Had every loading tool you could imagine from practically every famous SS gunsmith....everything from an uncherried pope mold to various Zischang loading tools....even AO Bremer powder measure and packaged lead bullets w AO Bremers name on them!   Ed Curtis had a wonderful display of Long Range Ballard Rifles and loading tools....and two of the  complete leather boxes of Ballard sights...funny enough one box spelled ballard correctly the other period box had it misspelled with only one L!

Simply an outstanding experience based on your description and far better than just staying home, mowing the lawn and pulling weeds by far.

I always look forward to seeing you Darin, and visiting! Wish Jon wasn't tied up at Raton at the matches. But tickled to hear he got a 3rd place in scoped offhand with his Ballard!

OO
It sure sounds like it was a good time.
There are always interesting displays and great people there.
This was the first show I have missed in the last 15 years. I hope to be back next year.

I see some of Vall's rifles in Portland.  I have to stay back a bit from his tables though.  He frowns on me drooling all over the displays Wink

Bob,

If you can go, we can meet up in Tumwater and drive down together.
