Just curious as to how they are going to field check this? Similar to Illinois rules that require handgun deer hunting ammo has to have 500 Foot pounds of energy. Put your ammo in the correct factory ammo box and are they going to take your ammo to a lab and test it? Same with lead bullets. Enforcement could be interesting and you are supposed to be innocent untill proven guilty in this country.

They will probably have a sample confiscation rule along with a DNA swab  Grin They will gitcha!  Shocked

Well, I'm in the group that favors using Barnes or Hornady GMX lead-free bullets, rather than an untested castable alloy. I can understand not wanting to use Barnes-type bullets in a rifle with an older barrel. You could buy a serviceable modern gun for the price of the fine.

Cast bismuth/tin with a carbide core in the base section?

Thanks again to all for your replies. I did notice that Rotometals also sells a no lead babbit metal that might be worth looking into. Did some Guinea Pig warfarin testing for extra money while in college, so, here we go again!

We are theoretically innocent until proven guilty but what I've seen happen more than once is that by the time the accused is found not guilty, or the state drops the charges, the lawyer bills have put the guy into bankruptcy.

That is exactly the problem with the "legal" system in this country.
