Lozito’s Borchardt double-set triggers ...

I was sitting around and thinking about all things Borchardt ... I remember looking at Lozito’s website years ago and I seem to remember he had an incredible photo of finished sets of Zischang-type double-set triggers.

Unfortunately, Joe Lozito is no longer with us ... Just curious does anyone recall what he was asking for a set of triggers and were they available as a part -or- would he only offer them installed in an action?

Is anyone here close enough to him to know how many sets he manufactured?

Thank you ...
Joe

I talked to Joe Lozito about 11 yeas ago to see if he would put his double set triggers in a LR Borchardt that I was building.  At that time, he was charging $500 for a set and $500 to install them.  He had one set he was installing in a customer's rifle and another set that he had about finished that I could have.  About 2 weeks later, I called to commit and his wife answered the phone.  She was with Joe in the hospital and I talked to him about the project.  Joe was having a lot of difficulty then and had quite a backlog so I decided to move on and have John King do a trigger job when he installed the barrel.
I think MWhite 49 had sent him a rifle for trigger installation and I know at least two years had gone by and he still hadn't got his rifle back before Joe's passing.  I think I remember seeing 5 sets posted on his website that he had for sale and I think a member here bought the last 2 sets from his wife.  His triggers were different in that they had a safety and he also used a different system for a lever spring. Damn, I wish Harry was still here to help out.  Miss that guy.  Bob

Harry mentioned that Lozito/Wolf had developed a plunger type arrangement to replace the standard leaf spring lever.  Does anyone have a picture or any further details on that system?

11 years ago or so there was a long thread on Borchardts and in it someone building dsts said they wouldn't build another set for $1,000!  It was in the Double gun forum.  Google Zischang Borchardt and lots of cool images and the above thread also comes up.  ASIRC it was started by Michael Petrov.

I'm currently trying to make dsts for the Borchardt using Bingers design and coil springs.  Too soon to tell if it's going to work.  Anyone else tried his triggers?

Any info would be most appreciated.

John

I bought a set of blank parts for the Zischang triggers from Rodneys last year they came with assorted drawings that where worth the price alone . Was a good project and turned out very well. He may still have the part kits on hand.

Amoretti,
I saw this posted for sale on GB.  Maybe the pictures can give you some idea.   Bob

Old Win,

Thanks for the heads up.  To me the lever looks pretty stock except it doesn't have a roller nose but rather a solid pin.

This lever may be part of their of their design mod but I expected the nose to be extended to operate the spring loaded plunger.  The mystery continues!
