I just have had a great experience with a custom gun maker and would like to share it with my fellow ASSRA forum members.

Last month, while fire forming some rather hot-loaded .17 Ackley Hornets I broke the firing pin on my 1885 Low Wall. I posted on the “Gunsmithing” Forum asking where to find or buy a replacement. One respondent suggested “DZ Arms” so I went to the website and found the “ask Dan” page. Because my firing pin was a “thin” high-pressure pin, I asked if they sold the thin or regular pins or both.

To my surprise, I received a return email almost right away advising that they sold the original size (.080) pin and asking the size of my firing pin. I replied informing that the hole in my breechblock was .0625 so the pin had to be smaller still. Shortly after my last response, I get a phone call from Dan Zimmerman to discuss my situation!! 

Well bottom line is Dan offered to fit a pin to my breechblock for the regular price of their pin, plus shipping. I sent my breechblock off to Dan a couple days later and just received the breechblock and pin via Priority Mail and a note “if you like it send me a check”. 

I sent the check and a thank you, still NOT believing that a person who makes beautiful reproduction Hepburn rifles would take the time and trouble to fix me up for a mere little firing pin! 

My hat is off to Dan Zimmerman for his excellent customer service, Thank you Dan!
