Martini Cadet -Gunsmiths that will bush firing pin

I have a .357 mag that flows the primer, causing the action to periodically lock up.  So far I can not find a gunsmith to bush the firing pin.  Any recommendations will be much appreciated.  Also, anyone had success solving this with a small rifle primer instead of small pistol, or new/stronger spring?

maybe just load it lighter.
I have no trouble with my Klein's 357 martini with
sp primers and 4227 , under a 200 gr 357315 bullet.

I have quite a bit of experience with Cadets, and on the "unbushed" versions, I use Remington 7 1/2 Small Rifle primers only.  This is the HARD primer intended for high pressure rounds like the 223Rem.  To date, no problems.  Try a few, and they might buy you some time (with moderate loads!) til you can locate a 'smith to do the job.  When you do find that smith, let us know who it is and how the job turns out!

I have to tell you:
I checked my 357 Martini Cadet -
The breechblock was indeed bushed for
close fit to smaller firing pin tip.
Back in the late '50s when Klein's Sporting goods
imported Cadets, and rebored some to 357M
they did a good job, including the Br Block bushing.
As said before, I have no problem with a load of 14 gr
4227 under Lyman 200 gr 358315, 200 gr cast bullet.
Shooted Very accurately. Fun Gun.

I had one a few years back with the same problem. I used a 1/2 inch carbide end mill and plunge cut in about 1/8 inch deep. Secured it with a tiny screw locking it in the face of the block. Back drilled for a small firing pin. I copied a large frame that had been factory redone. I will say that block was HARD! Have also seen them modified with a dovetail through the block. Wouldn't want to do another but it worked for me.

I have done several the same way as jhm, only I solder the disk in place. I usually make the disk out of 4140 which has been heat treated to around 30C.

A TIG welder can seal the old firing pin hole with a drop of metal. The breech is faced off and the new firing pin hole re drilled.
A .070" firing pin size has worked well in 22 Hornet, 222 and 223 conversions.

IIRC on the one I did, watch the angles.
The firing pin is not perpendicular to the breech block face.

Thanks all for the quick replies.  After striking out 3 times I may have found who I was looking for - Vic Samuel.  His website is (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) .

Here is his description - " We can do the bushing. A new firing pin body is included in cost - it is manufactured from 4140 steel. The firing pin is hardened drill rod that is silver soldered into the firing body and is replaceable should the need arise. Shipping back to you included.  Cost is $75.00. Turn around is 5 days."

Sounds good to me!  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Update-I got the block back from Vic Samuel and it looks great.  The bushing is almost invisible and the new firing pin is tight and small. As soon as it quits raining (build an ark?) I look forward to taking it on a test run at the range.

Vic was also helpful in my quest for another Martini Cadet project using a 22LR bull barrel that I have.  Looks like a happy ending.
