Grooveless bullet

Well, I have seen grooveless bullets advertised for PP, but not for lubing and BP.
They apparently do well or am I missing something?

The White Lightning lube was the invention of Dan Theodore who passed away in I think 2016. Supposedly he didn't write down his formula, and it may be lost forever now. There are those who were close to Dan who know what was in his dipping lube, but don't know the amounts of each part of the formula.
I have no idea if or how the White Lightning works, but most using it are shooting BP, not smokeless. SO I have no idea if it's applicable to smokeless, or really if it even works?

In his article he fired it with BP and the WL. I have no idea what was in his recipe but the grooveless bullet goes against most of what I have read in my research in reloading with BP.
Would that much lube suffice? I would think he dipped them to the shoulder and not leave any blobs on the nose.
Being a slip fit, some lube would remain on the lead bullet but, relatively speaking, very little.
Betcha Steve Brooks knows the formula. Interesting to note that Steve Brooks does not offer a .38 mold  Cool

PS: I am getting set up for BP. Built a drop tube, got the Swiss and the Ol' Eynsford and a bunch of stuff to do the job.

In my 76 years I reloaded a little. This sets to left and just back of the house.

Red Cent, I have a .38 cal (.377) Steve Brooks mold. It is a Creedmoor pattern. I haven't used it in quite a while, the bullets are approx. 350 gr., when cast 20-1 alloy.

The images shown in the article don't show a partially coated bullet. It appears they were totally dipped in whatever the lube is. It baffles me also, as I am not used to seeing cast bullets fired without lube grooves filled, and don't know how a lubricant this thin works. But if it did work, I'm surprised it's remained such a secret, as I'd expect it to be better than sliced bread, and more popular!

Seems pictures do not come through from photobucket. Maybe its because I have not paid them three or four hundred dollars for the right to post my pictures.

Try Imgur for photo hosting. I switched to it and it works very well!

White Lighting does indeed work very well.  I know a few top BPTR shooters who still have a supply that they are nursing along.

Dan left a number of clues as to its composition, but nothing definite.

There aren't a lot of commercial lubes to choose from for black powder shooting, but DGL is an excellent choice and holds up better in hot weather than SPG.

I do have some pictures on Imgur. Are you aware that they are not protected. Post a picture here and I can look at albums and, probably, all your pictures.
With four mistresses, two girlfriends, and a wife, I don't want anyone to see my pictures. I constantly am battling with Photobucket trying to keep my picture secure.
Art, I competed in a number of gun disciplines including Cowboy Action Shooting/SASS. I shot a cowboy match every Saturday and Sunday. There were 12-14 affiliated clubs in NC. Traveled from Maryland to Florida for about eight years shooting each state's annual match including KY, WV, Pa, and others. Then there is the annual regionals and there is the national championship in Arizona and the world championship in New Mexico.
I was so ate up with Cowboy, I bought an E350 van with a 6.0 diesel, a 16 foot enclosed trailer, and tricked out a golf cart for a gun cart. Bad leg so I could get away with it. Not too bad of a leg though.

Because of a childhood illness and a resulting back surgery a year ago, I keep my fingers in SASS doing this:

Shameless.

Wasn't aware of what you mentioned about Imgur being public. But I don't post any images anywhere that I'm worried about others seeing. Wont be any sexy pictures found, regardless of where you looked on my stuff! Wink

edit-Tried every way I could to access even my own Imgur account through pictures I've posted, and can't seem to do it. Can you explain how you did so?

Imgur will show how to "lock" your pictures. However, they have a disclaimer.
"Your posts are hidden to anyone coming to your profile, but can still be accessed via the direct URL."

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

If you click on the url, you will go directly to my Imgur page and get into all my albuns/pictures. And you might find one or two naughty but nice picrures.
Here is a Photobucket picture that will do the same thing. I have "locked" the pictures before I posted these.
(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
Try clicking on the pictures.

If anyone knows how to make the pictures private I am definitely  open to instructions.

OK, so I posted this Imgur link, and if I click on it I can see the image. But I don't see any way to see any other images I have on my album there?
What am I missing?

As for clicking on your PB image and getting to your account. I couldn't anyway, as I have Adblocker on my computer and PB wont allow anyone with an ad blocker on their computer to access images on their site. I get a pop up notice telling me I have an ad blocker, and must disable it to use PB sites. No chance I'm letting them access my computer by downloading ads to it!

After Photo Bucket decided to try and screw everyone I signed onto Post Image and now I can't copy and paste any of the pictures I now have and when at first it was working extremely well. I also cannot get them to respond with an answer to the fix and so I have pretty much given up trying to share anything anymore.
