Wyoming deer fall to old rifles

My elk hunt with my Borchardt in 30-40 Krag Improved ended with no shots fired but when I left NM I drove to Wyoming as I had 2 doe deer tags.  First day the Borchardt barked at about 200 yards.  The deer ran about 30 yards after taking 180 grains behind the shoulder. The rifle sports a modern hunting scope.  This morning I went out again but switched rifles to my 44 1/2 in 25-35 wcf.  Last year it wore the scope that is on the Borchardt but this year I went with an original Lyman tang sight.  Jumped 2 deer just after daylight and when the 25 spoke 120 grains made quick work with a double lung shot at 85 yards.  The Stevens collected 2 antelope and a 25" 4x4 Julie last year so I am 4 animals with 4 shots.  No pictures as I forgot my camera and phone both days.  My next project will be one of my 1902 Rolling Blocks and will be either 250 Savage or 7x57.  Pick your shot and these old guns still perform like they did 120 years ago.  Tom
