Winchester 1885 hammer-sear notch does not set

In 2013 bought a Winch 1885 from an individual. The trigger was typical Browning B-78. Found a single shot expert that had replacement trigger. Removed trigger housing sent it to him. When it got back took me 1 year to reassemble "where'd dat spring go?". Long story, health interfered and now ready to shoot. The firing pin would not strike primer hard enough....then sear quit setting. I have lotsa extra parts due to my inexperience and health. Have 3 smith refusals, Midwest GunW, and one in Montgomery and a local. This is not for weak heart. I need help.

Give Lee Shaver a call. He's worked on many of these and can likely get it purring for you.

The trigger assembly in your Miroku manufactured Winchester 1885 is nothing like the Browning B-78.  Browning completely redesigned & simplified the trigger assembly for the 1885 models.  Here's an article on some of the differences between the two rifles.

BTW, I also recommend Lee Shaver.  But he's a very busy guy so it may take a while to get your rifle back.

I put a B78 together this week, good way to get fingers pinched. Not one of the easy ones to work on.

If lee S is too backed up  you can still obtain the sear spring  ( i suggest several) he makes that overcomes the problems you are having. The trick is tearing the rifle down and reassembly  for which I reccomend Texas mac's book. Otherwise just ship him the trigger assembly for a fast fix or even better the entire trigger housing  but this required (for my rifles) an arbor press from Harbor F
