What case?

I bought a cam type seater which looks to be for a High Wall.  I can't get to my shop yet as I had knee surgery yesterday.  I need to get my dial caliber but in measured with a ruler and get a case length of 1.625 or so.  It looks to one of the 357 tapered to .32.  Maybe a 32 Miller long?  Any better info?

Thanks

Jack

Jack,
It could be the Dell 32 x 357 Max, or what ever it's called.

A full length 357 Max will grow to about that length, when resized to 32. A 30/30 Wesson, grows to 1.64 when resized from 357 Max cases. Just happens to be the right length for the 30/30 Wesson.

I got my daughter to get my caliber. The rim is about .4375 and the length is 1.630. Looks to be 30 cal though. The seating rod is .307. The outside case diameter at the tip is about .335 or so

2.63" long? 1.63 would be the 30/30 Wesson.

It is 1.63.  I blame it on the opioids

My retirement plan is based on my getting addicted, blowing through all My assets and standing on a freeway off ramp with a poorly written sign.

I just take 1 to take the edge off the pain. The nerve block and other pain pills I got yesterday are wearing off.

Finally have time to read "The story of Popes barrels"

Well its not a Dell, The difference between a Dell and a Miller short is, the Dell is a straight taper and the Miller Short is a double taper. They are both the same length.
It may be a Miller long that is a .357 Max case stright tapered to .32.
It may be something else there was a lot of exparimentation and a lot of overlapping with .357 based cartridges.

I think Frank got it right. The case base was so beat up that I could not read the head stamp but looks to be 30-30 Wesson.

Thanks
