IIRC several posters have admitted to owning a Pressure Trace system.
Most people will use it in the conventional way to measure hoop stress as a way
of evaluating loads. 
Has anyone tried measuring the stress across the mortise in a falling block?
As long as one is well satisfied that the hoop stresses are well within reason then 
determining the stress across the mortise might be better way to go.
