I get out more than one might think Joe Ennis Del Mar but there is simply nothing here being shot as you just mentioned and never has. But there is also nothing going on here like that sheep ranch in Wyoming I hear you and a coulple of your friends here are visiting its just not my cup tea but I also have no qualms about what you all might be doing there either its just not my cup of tea.

Yea Yea I know where thats at Suzie Q but I thought CF said he was picking you and Frank Jack Twist up in another post for a road trip with his friends so I just assumed it was to a Sheep Ranch in Wyoming to spend some quality time together he wasn't real clear so I could be wrong.

Ya know this peckerwood just stores stuff for attempts to slur other folk. What slimy tactics.
I think sheep would reject him if he tried to "befriend" one.

Before we get too far off topic; I can't get my mind off this "nose slump" buggaboo.
I've been looking at some old targets and see what I thought were tipping bullets, but maybe it's "nose slump". How do I tell the difference?

Here is my best scope target and best iron sight target shot with my RKS barrel in competitions in Washington with Joe and Frank.

Also shot with Joe in Montana as well.
Never heard of them shooting with those sheep herders in Wyoming.

My rifle tips the bullets occasionally but accuracy does not seem to be affected by it.

Or was the high one on the scope target and the one in the 24 ring on the irons target due to a tipping bullet?

But the RKS barrel or shooter seems to shoot irons better at 100 yards.

I believe those pointy nosed spitzer bullets have a tendency to start tipping at 200 yards and definetly out at 300 yards.

They say you need a more rounded nose to stabilize bullets at longer distances.

Guys, Guys, Guys, I was born and raised in Montana, lived in Wyoming the last 36 years, there are way more sheep and nervous sheep I might add -  in Montana than Wyoming ever had.    So how did Wyoming get brought in to this anyway?   Is there someone on this forum  Cheesy that has experiences in WY we should know about?  Grin

Very nice targets Joe! I'm scrambling trying to get a gun finished that I'm using one of Ron's barrels-  thinking I'm going to order another spiral cut tube from him for a rimfire.

Joe, I'd like a little more info on the rimfire target, barrel and action?  Maybe you've posted something on it already and I've missed it.  Send me a PM when you have a few moments.
Thanx,
Greg

I would agree that the pointy nose bullets tend to begin to tip after a couple hundred yards. My personal thoughts (or guesses) are that the lack of forward weight in those bullet designs makes the heavier rear try to pass up the nose, and thus destabilize more and more the farther they go.
I've got some old hollow base round nose mold bullets that work extremely well at longer ranges, and the lighter base tends to not be an issue vs. solid base bullets at long distance.

I've owned some Douglas and McMillen barrels, but only on bolt guns. All my single shots sported original Win barrels.
Sure would like to have one of those RKS jobs but don't know what I'd use it on unless I find another rifle somewhere needing a new tube.

Joe

I will put my GM barreled High Wall up against your RKS barrel any time.  I did just put the RKS Chuck barreled High Wall in 32 Miller Short back together a few minutes ago.  Going to give it some serious trigger time.  I put set trigger parts into it.  Just have to adjust my scope cross hairs to accommodate the tilted scope mounts.  I did turn down that nut on the front of the barrel to match the diameter.  It doesn't look too bad now until you take the forend off and see the hacksaw cut dovetails.

I think you should trade me a RKS barrel for the Jeep transmission I have
🙂🙂😂😂😇

I am lined up with the cardiologist on August 8.
Unfortunately I most likely will not be making Mike's BBQ this year.

Too many family events in August.  Hoping to get knee surgery after the Sept Tacoma match.
i may not be able to spend the 12 hours of leaf raking this year.  Luckily all 3 kids are back at home for a while.  Nice shooting Joe.  I had better practice some more.

Got all the tools Joe.

But the body needs a tune up first and I am not sure an iron worker will be able to bring me into the right alignment.
