Javelina Schuetzen Lube is not a 50/50 mix of Alox and beeswax.

The commercial bullet lube maker Javelina still lists the original NRA formula of 50/50 yellow beeswax and Alox 2138F as available. This is a bit puzzling considering it's nearly 50 years since 2138F has been manufactured. Lee markets "Lee Liquid Alox (LLA)" as a liquid lube for their tumble lube bullets but which Alox or it's source is unknown.

Not 50 years.  I bought a 5 gal bucket of the 2138F maybe 20 years ago from the Alox Company.

Javelina Lube is 50/50 (Alox/beeswax). Javelina Schuetzen Lube is 75/25 (Alox/beeswax).

Why has no one mentioned that Javelina Lube and Javelina Schuetzen Lube are 2 different products? The former is 50/50 Alox/Beeswax and the latter 75/25 Alox Beeswax. Alox 2138 was replaced by Alox 350. Jerry, the maker of Schuetzen, posted last year that he would be accepting no new customers but could probably supply existing customers for about 10 years. Looks like Jerry beat me to it!

Well, if there is a difference between Javelina Lube and Javelina Schuetzen Lube, then someone better call Paul or Gail Shuttleworth and let them know they are using the wrong ratios for their Javelina Schuetzen Lube that they make & sell ...

I'll let Gail know she has the wrong ratio listed, but suspect that was a mistake as she knows what the ratio is. By the way, they don't make it, they only sell it.

Was that Barney coming to the realization that he doesn't know everything after all or Just, I got my mine made up so don't try to change it with the facts. The original question was can one use a smokeless lube in a black powder rifle? Yes you can, as long as you are wiping after each shot. You don't have to worry about using a lube(SPG) to keep the fouling soft as you have already remove the fouling.

Joe, I'm glad you clearified it! I thought it was OT, too, until you told us the REAL story Wink

I had thought he looked that way, because he just discovered that his radio was set on the wrong station Sad

I thought he was doing that because he just heard "May the bird of paradise fly up your nose" on the radio.

Andy told him that he only uses the old recipe that aunt Bea cooks up in the kitchen before a match. Lard, okra and cornstarch. Called it Super Schuetzen Lube and lunch.
