I have a memory of Dennis H. comming up to me at a match one year with an old brass 32-40 case. He said "I only got 5 years out of this one." and tipped it over and the primer fell out. The case still looked good but it was de & re primed so many times the pocket just wore out.

I think they are poor cases for fixed ammo.

I have about 150  6mm Rem cases and about 75  .375 H&H cases that are nickeled.
The produce a lot more friction when being resized and the plated surface is harder.
If you want to avoid scratching the dies and the brass you need to keep both the dies and the brass exceptionally clean while sizing.

In addition the inside of the neck is very rough and produces a lot of drag on jacketed bullets.
With a normal expander ball they plating does not get any smoother and it really roughs up the the bullet jackets. I would recommend that you use a carbide expander if you can.
In addition be sure to flare the neck so the base of the bullet does not hit the edge of the case mouth. The rough nickel will take a bite out of a bullet if you don't flare it.

Didn't gas leak around the primer or were the loads so light it didn't matter?
