Saw this and thought I would pass it on.

I think I will stick with the "ready rolls."

Unless you could still buy primed .22RF cases, I see no reason I'd want to go through the process either.

They sell a bag of powder called "Prime All" that will prime 2,000 .22 LR cases.   Roll Eyes

You can cast your own bullets, or you can buy them.
you can tie your own flies or you can buy them.
you can load, breech seat, your 22s, or you can buy them.
Isn't it grand that we have choices!

It has been a couple of years now, but was able to buy primed cases, I believe from Armscor.

It was posted in another .22 thread last year that they are no longer available unless someone or some group agrees to make a 50,000 piece order.

When I called ArmsCor looking for more after the 9 boxes of 5,000 primed empties vanished like lightning ... they told me sure ... put in an order for 500,000!
Additionally, I've called at least a 1/2 dozen commercial ammo reloaders asking them to sell the primed empties ... Nope, Legal Liability!

With this Prime All for 20 bucks, presume one has to make the solution and drop in the case.  Could be a good alternative instead of match heads.
Then order the 22RF mold - seating die and the adjustable shell holder for Shorts - Longs and Long Rifles from Old West Bullets

plus a set of the Lee Universal Expander plugs to open the case mouth
I can reload a tray of 50 in less than 30 minutes after casting the bullets using the primed empty cases
Is it everyone's cup of tea?  No, but 22RF reloads with black powder is ... 'Stepping Back into Time'  Wink
And one can even soup up the fps over the standard velocity with smokeless powder

I have a Greener (Martini) 297/230 and this is the answer to my prayers as I will now be able to load and shoot it with the .22 heeled projectiles. Hooray !!!

JB & A-H, I thought it's an interesting concept in reloading although I'm not much of an experimenter any more.  It's not everybody's cup of tea or coffee Smiley.
There's plenty of once used .22 brass laying around many ranges, but one problem I see (if you're going to load for accuracy) is finding quality brass laying about.  Seems you would have 3 variables to deal with: Length, weight, and rim thickness of the brass, before you start reloading. I wonder how the firing pin indent in the once fired brass will figure into the equation.

This concept gets frequent play on "survivalist" sites, and I saw a thread or two on Cast Boolits before I put that site on my ignore list.   Strikes me that it's a cynical play to make money off the many naifs that populate those sites.  Maybe one in a hundred ever gets usable ammunition.

I agree with you.  I don't believe my OP endorsed the product in question.  As I said in my OP, that I would buy "ready rolls" as opposed to "rolling your own."  I have always considered this forum as an exemplary exchange of information and opinions.  I have never considered the ASSRA forum as a survivalist website and it is many cuts above many gun and ammo forums.  I feel the members of this forum are intelligent to decide for themselves if the product is for them or not.  Seems to me it has made an interesting topic.

What are the chemicals in the plastic bags?  DuPont & competitors spent 30+ years developing non-corrosive priming for use with smokeless powders in rimfires.  Their research paid off.  Does anybody want to be the guinea pig?
