I don't use certified although I have a supply of tin at my disposal, and I am as careful as I can be with my lead mix, contamination could happen. I don't think that is my problem but it's very possible.
I really think certified is the most sensible way to go if your goal is accuracy. I have to draw a line at cost. Some day I'll order up some certified, clean out my pot and tools, and see if it'll make me any difference. But I'm not at that point in the game yet. I guess it's all about how serious we are with our games.

Frosty's are good, on a hot day at the range, or in your bullet box!

Always shot my best with frosty's Smiley

Thanks Ciao, that makes me feel a lot better about them and not be so quick to sort them out of the pile now.

Today would be a good "frosty" day with 14 degrees outside.
If the wind dies down I'll take a walk around looking for some brass balls.

Now I'm wondering about another mould that I like. I could use some loading advise on it. It's a Steve Brooks mold that I don't remember where I bought it but it is a really nice mould and throws a nice little bullet. I just need some idea where to start with my powder. I want to use either 300 MP or 4227 and I'd prefer the 300 MP.
The bullet is a round rose flat point design of 190 grains of 20 to 1 mix. It has three substantial grease grooves. The bullet is .965 in length.
Has anyone worked with anything like this that might suggest a starting point for my powder?
Thanks,
Jack

I have and 14.2 to 14.4 grains of 300MP with Winchester LR Rifle Magnum Primers worked the best back then for 200yds. If shooting at a 100yds. drop down to 13.7 to 13.9 but keep in mind it has to do with your density altitude so don't take it as being gospel but it will get you real close. Just listen to and pay close attention to what the target is telling you and the Fed. 210's have also worked quite well. What you have is basicaly the same bullet I used to set the new ASSRA 100yd. 5-5Shot Group Average record of .3882 with back in 2013 using the WLRM Primers and 300MP. I might also add it is the only powder I use in my 15 twist 32-40, 12 twist 28-35SS and 10 twist 25-21 and I am just finsihing up my 8th. 8lb. Jug.

Yours Sincerely
John Louis
