Dixie Gun Works also carries the Winchester sling hooks, and cheaper than anyone else.

These are crude looking compared to the ones Buck used to sell--they'd fall out of the eyelets, unless the open end of the hook can be bent back to leave a gap of no more than about 1/8".  The kits he sold also included an eyelet on a wood screw and another for attaching to the brl. by dovetailing or soldering.  I installed them on 4 or 5 of the SSs I used to hunt with, and liked them as well as QD swivels.

Don't know who was actually making them--I think Cape Outfitters also sold them.

Cape Outfitters is now Jeff's Outfitters.  Under the old name it was the original importers of the dreaded mini-Fraser finished rifles and kits.  Can't say anything about the quality of their current products.

Jeff's Outfitters has shown them out of stock for a very long time!

If a guy can't bend those little hooks slightly closed, he probably ought to sell all his tools.

True, but why should he have to at $40 a pop?

Also several well-made repro sights--their Stevens graduated tang sight was just about perfect, except for the pivot screw.

Because not all sling eyes are the same. And $40 a pair is half or less than what anyone else charges. Takes all of maybe 30 seconds to do both of them. Try and make them for less.
