SmileyI am restocking this Stevens for a person but am interested in getting a closer fix on year of make. Right flat on chamber has J. Stevens A+T Co. Chicopee Falls Mass. On left flat .28-30

Serial on lever is 47   10842. right front of reliever stamped 44 1/2 on left of receiver face two 0 superposed . On bottom of barrel forward of octagon section is stamped 7017 and on flat behind those numbers is 0. With caliber or 28-30-120 I am thinking this was made late in the game maybe 1912 or so since ammo for it seemed to have dropped off list by 1920.  Any resources on narrow manufacture time? No front or rear sights but does have 26 inch barrel with scope mounts. Have had lots of help from CPA folks. Thanks in advance

The 44-1/2 model made only 1903-16.

That's about as close as you can get unless the catalogs only list the .28-30 for certain years. Even that is not a 100% certainty. Just noticed different serial #'s on the barrel and receiver. Barrel has been changed. No problem if it headspaces ok. I put a .44-40 barrel on one of mine and it indexed and headspaced ok. It doesn't always work out that way. The .28-30 is not a really common caliber but very accurate. Harry Pope was fond of it.
