	On 7.2" base spacing: .040" for 20 MOA, .080 for 40.

	I've used sheet aluminum in .10" or thicker to make base shims. On one rifle I tried stacking bases and using Loctite 620 to "glue" them together and allow me to get a lot farther out for long range work. I had that stacked base setup on my gun for a long time and it held up great. When I took them off, I used my heat shrink gun to get the bases pretty hot, and separate them.
