Bob if you don't mind me asking in what shooting sport was he using it in. I know Dan Theodore had some success with it in BPCR Sil. but I don't recall him shooting any benchrest Schuetzen not knowing if it also met those demands for him personaly and just simply curious.

John, He was shooting the LR (mostly midrange) series here in the PNW.  We shot 200 to 600 meter at Chiliwack, B.C. on Memorial Day, 200 to 600 at Tacoma in late June, 200 to 800 years at Douglas Ridge in OR in late July, and back to Chiliwack for Labor day.  I occasionally had an opportunity to piggy back on hi-power at 1,000 yards plus I had 3 200 yard one day matches at Tacoma in the winter. I don't remember if he ever shot 1,000, but certainly did well for 200 to 800, about 600 record shots per year.

BTW, a few times I tested my culls at 200 yards in both my 45s and 33-47.  I couldn't tell any difference, but the culls only had slight blemishes.

There is no doubt that what has been said about the 1,000 yard ballistic improvements is probably real.  There has been a lot of rediscovery of past technology in the last 25 years since GG bullets were far superior to PP.  At that time, BP LR was shot here in PNW, Canada and a few muzzle loaders were do it.  Then  Quigley came out  Grin

A 1000 yard shoot that was open to the public was once held on one of the ranges at Ft. Lewis (back before the Joint Base days). Then the lawyers got nervous and use of the range was terminated.

I attempted to get access to KD-22 for 1000 yd matches, but finally gave it up as too much trouble. Some of the military guys used to bring small convoys to our range in Tacoma because the military was too much trouble for them to deal with.  We had to put a stop to that.  The neighbors were concerned about the conveys and excessive noise.  Shocked
