I don't think so, the action is weak.
The twist might give you an idea, 22LR looks faster.
Be careful,
Aaron

I thought mine was marked 22 LR, but I'll dig it out tomorrow and check.  What ever it is, the bullets tumble and make a 6 foot group at 100 yds  Cry

Most, if not all of these were designed/chambered for the 22  BB/CB (= 6mm Flobert) cap and even with a stronger Warnant patent rifle, I'd not risk using anything else (i.e. 22 short), even if it does chamber.
As with much of life, it's a matter of personal responsibility and rolling the dice, if one chooses to be adventurous.

IF somebody takes out a Flobert and goes to the firing line and loads it,   I make sure I am not around close enough for any kind of Shrapnel to get me, Preferably behind something substantial.

No caliber marked on mine.

How could it be significantly weaker than a cast Ballard or Trapdoor?

The Sears & Roebuck ad at the bottom of this thread is interesting. Doubt if you would see a comment like that in today's advertising. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Admittedly not the finest nor the strongest rifles in the world but I have used mine quite a bit with modern .22 LRs, it likes Mohawks best, with no problems.  Lined by CC Johnson but I have no idea who did the rest of the work.
