me and my guedes

took the  guedes M1885 
out of the dark ,and reloaded for it :
23gns vhita N110 with a few grains of dacron fluf  ,
cases made out of  .348 win,
lead bullets out of a rapine  double mould ,245 gns sized to .325,  gas checked   and greased in  good old saeco 
rifle hits a pistol silhouette taget at 100m in a 10cm group of 7 hits
POA 15 cm  right of center and  40 cm under target center
PS.
this  rifle belonged  to sgt Woollam army ordenance corps as marked on the barrel, 
he took part on the Nile expedition 1898
battle of Khartoum ,Atbara and Omdurman (Sudan campaign)final action on 2/9/98 
sgt Woollam and seven  other nco's   were presented  the silver medal for distinguised service and gallantry by Queen Victoria on the 14/1/1899 at Osborn, as written in the Liverpool Mercury 14/1/1899 he was also mentioned in the Edinburgh gazette of 18th nov.1898
the rifle was a souvenir of his south african duty

A great piece of history that shoots, too!  A hearty "well done" on your work to get the cases made and develop the load.

that story with photos would make a REALLY GREAT ASSRA Journal article.  especially if you can find photos of the honored Sargent and the newspaper clippings.
