Hi all, first timer to this forum but I have always had a passion for single shot rifles, probably passed on to me from a kinda Uncle who was into Sharps, Remington rolling blocks, Martini's, Winchesters, etc.  We would go out logging and he would bring rifles, so we could spend our lunch shooting different calibers - usually cast bullet black powder.  I have numerous single shot modern bolt guns from .22's to custom BR rifles but no cast bullet guns, so I figure it's time to jump in.

Now to my post topic.  I had the fortune to recently purchase two Mitchell 2.5 x 24x, fine crosshair & dot scopes in excellent cond.  This forum is one of the few that knows anything about these beautiful scopes.   I'm thinking about selling one and using one.

So my question - what are they worth?  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

They are worth a lot to some, most don't know what they are or not willing to pay what they are worth.

Mitchell made several models majority were for heavy bench rifles and easiest sold to bench rest shooters.

His Small Bore Prone scope, model 1600 I think it is, was the one I almost bought when they were in production   About Unertl or Lyman STS size and right foe a Schuetzen rifle.

Describe them well and post here for sale with photos

ebay has a advanced search function sorting on competed sales. Price the item actually sold. I only found one Mitchell, 32x new in the box. It was listed buy it now at 3,000 dollars, however it was sold at "best offer" That's a back and forth that takes place when the item goes unsold and the agreed price is private.  I think the seller pays EBay's commission  at the listed price

No way to tell the actual selling price on the one listed.

My ebay experience using some one else to list for me is net about 2/3 of the sale price. At best 75 %. Guessing only the seller put a couple thousand dollars in his pocket. This lines up with 40 Rod's estimate

If you want the big $ for these scopes, go to e-bay. I would expect you will do very well there with these scopes.
