Just got this high wall rifle, with weaver K12 scope. I guess the receiver is a winchester so I looked up the serial # and the receiver dates 1887. It has a 24" barrel marked J.R. Buhmiller. It looks like .22 cal ,but not sure which it's chambered for. I plan on making a chamber cast to see. Did J.R. Buhnmiller build the rifle or only the barrel? I'm new to collecting single rifles, anybody wants to add some info I would appreciated. Thanks Bernie

John Buhmiller was a very well regarded barrel maker in the 50's.Based on the adjustable hand stop rail your rifle was probably set up for 22 rimfire 3P,4P or prone shooting. It wasn't unusual for rifles like this to be converted at a later date to 22 Hornet or 218 Bee.Nice rifle, I hope you have a lot of fun with it!
