Has anyone run across the name "C. Hart" as a gunsmith or collector?  I have a Remington # 2 rolling block in fabulous condition with name in the forearm and under the butt plate.

Help

I called the Hart Barrel Co. and was told Clyde Hart died some 30 years ago and that his work was stamped "C R Hart.  I guess this marking is a different Hart.   Sad

Hi Don,
While at Winchester, I found 2 barreled actions that were used to check the accuracy of their .22lr ammo.
These extremely heavy barrels were meant to be shot from a "horse", a steady rest type fixture.
The custom shop made one into a rifle for me, it a bit heavy.
They must have thought a lot of this maker to use their products in this manner.
Mine is marked C.R & P.J. Hart

Not to throw water on the very well known and good Hart Barrels, but one of the long time major/key makers of both accuracy and  pressure test barrels for the firearms and ammo industry is  Boots Obermeyer/Obermeyer Rifled Barrels, Bristol,WI

I had many pressure test barrels for a Universal receiver from them. (Boots Obermeyer)
Set up for copper units of pressure.

I'd guess ths is likely early Clyde, I seem to recall seeing the stamp before.
The shop is about 10 miles from my home, Clyde  built my first BR rifle.

"C. Hart" is Charlie Hart (Texas).  I may hve owned the No.2 Rolling Block you have now.  I bought a refinished and restocked No.2 directly from him in April, 2012.

I have a Winchester Model 52 with a Boots Obermeyer barrel on it. I don't think he makes 22's anymore; I heard he concentrates on 30 caliber match barrels.

Do...

Do you mind telling me what the serial number was on that rifle you owned?

I acquired this rifle 11/21/2012, believe it may be a different rifle?  Serial number on this one is # 9475

I'm with Joe Do.....
Charlie Hart lives in Wimberley, TX and has been a shooter and collector for many years.  I'll try to make contact with him and see if the rifle was his.
