Is there a book(s) that you would recommend that discusses the various Stevens Rifles and configurations?

Grant's series of books ("Single Shot Rifles," etc.) all have sections on Stevens rifles and, if memory serves, they were his favorite brand.  There are, of course, writeups on all the other single shot rifles he came across.   West's "Stevens and Savage" book has all the variations and chronologies for the company and its products, but it also includes the shotguns and lever actions.

I have many books that cover Stevens and find Wests to be one of the best.

There have been so many wonderful books on single shot published in the last 15 years but none specifically on Stevens.  I WANT ONE ON STEVENS!!!

Jay Kimmel's Stevens and Savage book.   Focused on rifles, not much on shotguns.

Phil Sharpe's "The Rifle in America" has some detailed info.

If you want one focused only on Stevens, you may have to write it yourself.

The destruction of all the factory records after WW1 makes it difficult.

Single Shot Rifles and Actions by Frank deHaas ... expensive but an excellent reference.  I have an extra one - $90 plus shipping to the 1st PM

I have Grant's book Single Shot Rifles and Actions ordered West's book yesterday.

Seems like maybe a book could be in order. We certainly have enough knowledge on this board, maybe I can serve as facilitator on this... I'll make a new post

As far as Kimmel's book goes, you'd be better off buying some of Cornell's reprint Stevens catalogs, and Phil Sharpes' articles have a lot of mistakes.        ...MIKE...

Thank you for the replies and PMs. Traveling the next several day, so will have little to no internet. Please keep the ideas and thoughts coming. I'll be back next week.

Cornells reprints of Stevens catalogs is another great resource. I have most if not all of them plus some originals. Lots of info there if you take the time to go through them carefully.

You may want to try "a history and digest of the J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company", "Fine Single-Shot Target target and Sporting Rifles", by Harold Strong if you can find one.

Brian I have a signed copy of his book and I whole heartily agree. Unknown to some Stevens made more than just rifles and the accessories that went with them of which my book also covers.
