25-20 SS. 32ideal

Asking for ideas
Have a 25-20 SS that has a 1-14 liner in it,  looking for a bullet to shoot in it.  Ideas on bullet weight.
Also an original 32 ideal barrel on a 44 1/2 action this is a strange twist.  Did it 3 times. Came out 1-19 twist.   Bullet weight ??
Thanks in advance
Bill

Send LBT a slugging of your chamber and throat and ask for his 90 gr. flat point plain base bullet for the 25-20 WCF. This bullet will often give 100 yd. MOA groups at 1150 ish FPS in two different rifles with a 14" twist liner.

I just finished a Ballard in 25-20 WCF with a TJ's 14 twist liner. An ~86 gr. works well, but a 100 gr from a NOE mold did not! The NOE bullet is .85" long with a rather long nose. I filed the base of a half dozen to a length of .80" and they were still tippy at 100 yds.

The "book" twist of the .32 Ideal was 18", so you're not far off.

Stevens sold .32 Ideal cartridges loaded with a 150 grain bullet.

In the 1898 catalog they suggest that a 175 grain bullet "will give superior results".

Powder load with the 150 grain bullet was listed as 25 grains of Holy Black.

Sometime very soon I need to get out to the shed and cast up some bullets for mine.  I have yet to shoot it.  Only 8mm mould I have so far is 165 grains.  We shall see.

0.25 cal 14" twist: Greenhill and Miller formulas suggest keeping the bullet length less than about 0.72 inches.
