Here are my #4s with original Lyman "U" code sights. I've mentioned it before, but Sam Simmons makes tang sight mounting screws. He also makes custom screws to your specs.

ndnchf,

Looking good!

Lyman and Marbles sights for the #4 rifle used the forward factory tapped hole for the front mounting screw and a slightly longer tang screw for the rear.  If your tang has two tapped holes dedicated to the sight base it is not as original from the Remington factory.  The Gallery Tang Sight is a single screw mounted base that mounts on the front factory tapped hole.

These #4's are looking good.  I'm glad there no limit on the number of projects one can have going at one time.  How would a Lyman #5 combo front sight work with a tang sight?

Never mind the mule. Just load the wagon.

I MAY be remembering this wrong but I remember seeing a simple tang sight very very similar to the "round-topped" Remington Gallery sight on Steve Earle's display table an Etna Green a year or two ago.  when I asked about them he said he was making them for one of the guys who deals in "Roller" parts. IF my memory is correct a call to him might yield the name of the guy he was making them for.
