Peabody Creedmoore Sight

I recently picked up a 44/100 Peabody Creedmore and it is missing the tang sight. Where do I start to look. I would like the correct one, but a period one would do.

Thanks

It may not be what you're looking for, but Tom Rowe has a Peabody book preview on blurb.com. The pictures may give an idea of how the rifle was set up. Best of luck with it.

As far as I know, none of the better known repro sight makers has ever offered an exact duplicate of the Peabody Martini target sights. Sights are numbered to the gun.  Possibly a custom shop could duplicate one if you could borrow an original to copy.

As far as finding an original, hen's teeth are plentiful by comparison.

Thank for the help. It is pretty much as I thought and was afraid of. I'll just have to look for something that will work, period correct.

Call Lee Shaver.  He'll cut the base and you pick the vernier

Actually a Soule sight won't work on a Peabody or Peabody-Martini.  Not nearly enough drop in the action.  You'd need a ridiculously high front sight.  Look at the pictured sight on the AAWT site and note how close to the base the eyepiece has to go at its lowest point.  You need a custom sight made for the P-M.
