pressure question

assuming the same powder charge, bullet, case, primer, etc. is the pressure higher with breach seating or seating in the case?? I ask because I have 2 32-40 single shot and got to thinking powder charge in one might be a lot different. Joe

Here is a guess:


Same components same load,  powder burning will produce same amount of gases. Breechseated has more space behind bullet = less pressure than fixed bullet.

Guess correct?

Also, in 32/40 and 4227 powder, it takes about 1/2 gr more powder when BSing to equal velocity the fixed velocity. That would indicate that the pressure is lower if using the same charge.
