	Bob must have bought the barrel before Bieber became famous. My high wall Green Mountain barrel only does bluegrass music!

	Well I was hoping for some input on reasons why I keep separating cases. It sounds to me like nobody has this problem with the 32-20 cases. A lot of talk and joking of ringing chambers but that's not my problem and not what I was asking help for. If the placement of the wad can damage a barrel why then would it not tear apart a wimpy .007" thick case. Are there any theory's on this? Bob

	Case separation. (To me) is the process that incrementally stretches the case somewhere (below neck, above rim). How? Firing pin hits primer & pushes case forward and ignites primer. Powder goes off causing enough pressure to both push the bullet forward and expand the neck. Neck grips the chamber wall. Pressure inside the case pushes the base of the case backwards, stretching the case. Does ff in a necked case increase the stretch? I figure it likely does. Perhaps by increasing the initial pressure.

	I think that Cat Whisperer told you a part of it. The subject of shouldered cases griping the chamber and letting the body stretch is well known. I also think you answered another part of it when you mentioned that those cases are pretty thin. The pair of things is not a good combo one would think. I used to have very short case life in my only rifle in that caliber. I got maybe three loadings before something or other happened to the cases. Sold that one off to get something else. Some will tell you that they get good life out of those cases, but I'm not that guy. I did read somewhere that you can make cases out of .357(?) and maybe that'll give relief. I like the good humored responses here- makes me feel like I'm among friends.

	I experienced very bad case stretch & 1 seperation using RMC turned brass cases and Swiss 3FG black when using Cream of wheat as a filler for reduced loads in a .25-25 Ballard. I believe the slight machining rings inside case grabbed that now compressed cow at firing to pull brass forward.

I've made quite a few machined cases and learned a lesson on the first one that I shot with a fixed lead bullet. Even though the roughness left by the reamer wasn't much (reamers leave a pretty good finish), the first shot, pulled the neck off. After that, I polished the inside of the neck. I've also pulled 32/40 cases apart at the groove where the body to neck junction is (John Wayne) , shooting BP. By both those things, I would say that CoW could have done that on the RMC's if, the ID wasn't polished. Bsed, my biggest problem with machined cases is the neck leaking pressure and collapsing the neck. Frank
