Vall,

Thanks  for the pictures.  I especially appreciate seeing a shop that look a lot like mine! Smiley

Ballards may be weaker,

Vall, you are teasing us, we need more pictures of your Stevens rifles, here or wherever, feed our hunger!

Preferably of more than just the comb, they look to be "SUPER STEVENS" rifles, and I have a little thing for those. 😍

John

They're not nearly as nice as yours John!
The 49 on the 44 frame. Ordered minus the cheekpiece, and small Swiss buttplate:

The 44.5 and I've never figured out which model it is for sure? Was told it was either another 49, or a 50?:

These are the only two Stevens I own now. Sold or traded most of mine off, and these two will probably also go if the right Ballard is offered in trade! Smiley

Pretty awesome Vall, who knows what the second one is, see so many Stevens with all manner of special features. Has a big #4 plate, depending on who you ask it could be a 49,50 or 52. It sure is nice.

The top rifle is a slick little rig too. Never seen a 49 w/o a cheek piece. It's very tidy.

Thanks John! The 44.5 is puzzling, mainly because it's not engraved, as most in this style were either hand engraved, or at least acid etched. It's in .25-21 Stevens. The little Walnut Hill 44 frame is in .22RF, and has a very long/heavy 30" barrel not usually found on those in .22RF. They were usually 26" in .22RF.

Thought there was something odd about that sight.

Thanks John.

Joe, do you mean the dovetail adapter? Looks good to me, and the rest of it, too.

Yeah, that adapter thing. Pesky thing.

The rifle did turn out nice.

Would like watch John shoot it in a match.

I had one of those adapters on a rifle too.  I think it was on my 44 1/2.

Cut the barrel for a Stevens sight before John got the current sight from Chuck. If I'd known I could buy one, would have.

I need one to go the other way! 3/8 sight, and a 5/16" dovetail!
