She sure is pretty.

Have to bring it to Spokane next year.
We missed you there this year.
Let us know when Gabby shoots a 250 with it.
Are you sure it will be your rifle?

Dave

Here's to hoping ill have that weekend free Dave, it looking like I will. I'm in West Virginia now and soon will be in Alabama till February or so. Hoping I can take 3-4 months off from work after that.

Gabi said she doesn't like shooting my 32-40 1885, but hopefully she'll like the Stevens.
Just gotta get her to shoot that 250 with it and I'm sure her tune will change Wink

That's the nicest rifle I have seen in a long time.

Shooter who knows what to order. Good components, quality work.  Great results.

John,

Did your dad dig up the wind-gauge globe front sight to go with that No. 100 Mid-Range Vernier he gave you?     Wink

Yep, a beautiful rifle!

Thanks boats, that's a heck of a compliment.

The fancy 50mm lens really flatters the rifle too Smiley

I do have a wind-gauge front sight, that Chuck Boardman gave me long ago, it's on the rifle and perfect.

Thanks for the kind words gents.

I'll put a picture up with the whole rifle in it, it's so long it difficult to get it in the frame!

That is a beautiful rifle and thanks for the post.  I'm in the process of building a #52.  I have the action nearly inletted to the stock that CPA turned for me. They left a lot of wood, at my suggestion since this particular piece chips out badly.  Could you maybe post a picture looking down on the comb nose?  I don't know how thick or thin I should make it to keep it close to the originals in appearance. By the way, this is a piece of "drop dead gorgeous" Myrtle.  I'll post a photo when I get it finished.  Thanks.

Thank you for posting those photos, they show the details that I can't get from the side views.  It shows me what I need to do.  I have never been able to get my hands on any of the originals, or CPA's for that matter.  I wonder how much a particular pattern varied from stock to stock since they were hand finished?  I sure do like this forum for all the help I've gotten here.

Oh I reckon details like the comb varied a bit, but overall shape of the stock not much. Your guess is as good as mine.

My originals have a sharper edge to the comb. The 44.5 framed Stevens I have is closer to the rounded comb, while the 44 Walnut Hill is much sharper edged.
But the 44 Walnut Hill is also the small buttplate, so the whole stock is smaller dimensions.

Thanks to all of you for the comb pictures. Working on the same area on the Walker and these pictures are very helpful.

Vall, you are teasing us, we need more pictures of your Stevens rifles, here or wherever, feed our hunger!

Preferably of more than just the comb, they look to be "SUPER STEVENS" rifles, and I have a little thing for those. 😍
