	Anyone tried Trailboss in their 38-55? I spoke with a good CLA silhoutte shooter today and he told me that his Marlin 336 with a 255gr bullet and a case full of Trailboss, which he said is only 11.5gr, crony's in the mid-1200s and will shoot a 3" group from the bench at 200yd. Think I'll have to give that a try.

	It would be wise to call the maker of the powder, seems kinds stiff---- just thinkin..

	I have used Trail Boss in my 50/70 Husqvarna roller and following ADI (the makers) instructions filled the case full and weighed it then started with 66% of that amount for good results. This is their recommended way of establishing a starting load.

	So if my 45-70 case holds 100 grains, I would use 66 grains of powder? Sounds like a bomb. What am I missing? Have read this before but do not understand it. Joe.

	Wouldn't want to try that with a 577-450 or one of the large express cases - just thinking about it gives me the shivers... It is after all a fast-burning pistol-type powder

	Joe, I think what they mean is to fill the case with Trail Boss, and empty that into a scale, and weigh the charge of Trail Boss. Surely it will not be 66 grains, as would say 2F black. Probably more like 10 or 15 grains or so. It's pretty fluffy powder. At least that's how I understood it... --Down side to Trail Boss is it sort of smells like cat pee when you shoot it.

	Trailboss is, by design, a light and "fluffy" powder. A case full (up to the base of a 255gr cast bullet) weighs in at 11.5gr and crony's at ~1225fps from a 24" barrel in my friend's Marlin 336 CBL rifle. He generally is in the top-10 at Raton, so it is working for him.

	Don't know anything about the 66% thing. Just know what my friend tells me he does, which is fill to the base of the bullet.

	Being too lazy to go up to 3rd floor and read the label - I think the STARTING load is recommended as 2/3 of the volume under the bullet.

	Might work for BP duplex loads, at least the BP could mask the cat pee smell It could be beneficial in converting Trail Boss shooters to BP shooters. I like rotten eggs over cat pee. Frank
