Need help on Rolling Block sights.

I was going to use my Remington Aperture sights on my Rolling Block, but have misplaced them. It is a 45-70 with an octagon barrel.
Suggestions please. I will not shoot it over 100 yds.
Thanks

Which model or era Rolling Block? Is it an old one with the odd width dovetails, or something newer with standard 3/8" dovetails?

Dove tails? Ain't seen no dove tails. It is a smokeless powder receiver with the smaller firing pin. I was going to mount whatever sights I choose to the LH side of the receiver and probably solder the front sight or base to the muzzle.

I guess I might be on a different page than you. I was thinking dovetailed barrel sights front and rear. Or a tang sight on the top tang, and a simple post on the front.
Mine are all octagon barrels, so no soldered sights.

marlinguy,
The rear sight being on the barrel is too forward for my eyes. I'm thinking Redfield Palma rear sights at this time. Yeah, I think I have barrel wall thickness for screws on the front sights.
Thanks

The tang sight would put the rear sight close to your eye also.

In keeping with the original extra sights option (ES on bottom of the barrel) on the sporting model, try the Beech front sight with an MVA rough and ready rear barrel sight. Rough and Ready has both a V notch and flip up ladder with sliding eye cup. If you want added windage adjustment use the windage adjustable beech front.
2nd option use a graduated tang peep instead of the Rough and Ready.  Within the self imposed limit of 100 yards this may be overkill but places the rear sight closer to the eye.
