I need to mount a scope on a Winchester 1885 trapper I have not been able to find a mount for it. there just doesn't seem to be anything for a round barrel . I am hoping I don't have to mill something the rear mount needs to be 1/8 inch lower than the front and both the hole spacing is about .510 So far I have checked midway brownells weaver and Leupold web page it looks like a mount for the browning m-78 round barrel would work but I cant find on of those again the br-78 doesn't have a round barrel only the b-78. anyone have any idea?  on the 16.5 inch barrel I could put a Malcolm scope on it but wow that would make an ugly rifle really ugly thanks in advance argie1891 aka joe

have you looked at the Redfield one-piece base system.   I'd have to dig mine out  of storage to double check but my early tang-less Miroku '85 .45-70 has a factory supplied one piece base.
The front has a dovetail "hole" (you drop the dovetail "foot" of the front ring into it and rotate the scope 90 degrees.  The foot of the rear ring has a sort of dove tail that is captured between cone-cut opposing screws which permits a certain amount of windage adjustment.
I'm sure there is probably a much better way to describe it.  Huh

I have looked at the weaver chart and so far cant find one that fits the round barrel  hey list one for the traditional hunter and all the high wall 1885, but this one with a round barrel at least that is the way I read the chart.
