Attached are my MVA Irons and my MVA 28" Scope settings for my .40-65 WCF 1874 Shiloh Sharps with a 30 inch barrel using a 410 grain Boomer Money bullet @ 1,250 fps using Swiss FFFg.

I have used Steve Garbe's drop tables.

The velocity has been confirmed with a chrony.

Settings have been confirmed out to 880 yards.

Like the thread where someone is trying to fit 70gr of 3F Swiss into a 40-65 case, your 52.7gr of 3F Swiss is out the other end of my experience in shooting the 40-65. I load 54gr of 2F Swiss with a 370gr Saeco bullet for 200yd/chickens and you are the first person I've run across who loads less powder in their 40-65. Especially with a 410gr bullet. But, whatever works. I, too, use an MVA 28" scope, but with a 32" barrel, and am at 16 for the chickens (200m) and up 8 for pigs (300m) another 6 for turkeys (385m) and 9 more for rams (500m). My starting point will be different due to different blocks and barrel taper as well as different loads. On my Hoke sight, am up 14 from 200yd to 300yd and another 45 from 300yd to 600yd.

My rifle had a very tight bore and no leade so I had to compress Swiss and use 3 F to get the velocity.

Even with a reduced nose diameter of .398 I could not get my bullet any further into the barrel so I could not use more powder.

With Swiss FFFg I found groups opened up if you compressed more than .240"

The load shot quite well out to 880 yards last weekend.

With the Money bullet I found I had to get it up over 1200 fps to shoot the longer ranges.

My velocity and heavier bullet gives me the kinetic energy I need to shoot longer distances without cramming more powder into the case.

And a midrange Soule sight or a scope with 17 inch spacing of the blocks are more than adequate to get you out over a 1,000 yards with a 30 inch barrel using a .40-65.
