What can I use to remove rhe over spill of locktite that has dried on the barrel under the scope blocks? Thanks for your answer, Hank

Acetone is the best I have found for this.

Becareful you don't also remove the barrel finish it would look worse than the L.T. over runs.

Loctite recommends methylene chloride (common paint remover) It does work well. If you have a quality bluing it wont hurt it.

Be judicious and test somewhere inconspicuous.

How about ? JB ? JD? WELD ?  I have a S.S. barrel with sight blocks installed with this stuff.  Not only does it hold the bases, but the smears are ugly.

If you have access to CO2 or liquid nitrogen freeze it really cold and a tap from a plastic mallet will shatter it

Methylene Chloride under a plastic bubble will soften it eventually

I advise you not to follow the folly of the heat gun attack. Smears smears smears

Had a .22 come in a while back with serious over-runs of JB Weld from under the scope mount.  A very sharp blade starting at the edge and worked toward the mount popped all of it off with not a scratch on the blueing.  GW
