Very nice work, you are a talented craftsman. The straight bottom line looks odd. Originals were slightly curved. You said you changed the angle of the grip & I guess that is what straightened it out. Be sure to show us the finished product.

FYI - there is a 'smith in Gutherie, OK who builds Walker-Hepburns, but his name escapes me at the moment. However, he takes as many years as you do months to build one. Think you'll do well if you decide to produce these for others.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. It is a fun project, but don't think I will be doing it for anyone else.

Harry, Appreciate the critique. Lever looked OK when working on it, but pictures show it is somewhat heavy. Maybe I should take blacksmithing lessons from Jerry. Will think about thinning it down some.

DB, You are correct. Laying out the stock pattern shows a slightly curved bottom line would work better. You never stop learning.

Again, Thanks to all of you for the compliments.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

The lever looks good to me, but just thinning it at the edge to more of a "knife" edge, instead of a flat side on it. I think the flattened edge gives the appearance of bulk, that might not be there if it wasn't flat.

Chuck,
As Marlinguy says, a bit of bevelling on all the lever parts would make a more graceful looking lever. It is fiddly to do and there's no easy way to do it. But if it's worth doing, it's worth doing properly.
