R2 Lovell (22-3000) to What?

Have an original Hepburn with a 28" full octagon barrel that has been lined down to either a 22-3000 or R2 Lovell with an 0.375" OD liner. I am not interested in shooting either of the Lovell cartridges and was hoping that I could have the barrel bored and rifled as a 25cal and then chamber in 25-20WCF, but to my reading of the dimensions on the Lovell cartridges, it appears that this may not work. Am wondering if I am correct?

I am thinking the 25-20 WCF would not clean up the old chamber unless you set
the barrel back.  My Hepburn had a liner that was 1/2" at the breech and 3/8"
at the muzzle.  The original chamber was messed up but the bore was in good
shape so I rechambered it for .222 Rimmed.  Worked out well I keep the velocity
down to .22 hornet levels and it shoots well.  Just use .222 Remington dies. FWIW.

Why not remove the 22 liner and reline to 25-20? TJ's 25-20 liners are 7/16" diameter, which will remove all of the 22 liner.

A new liner is likely the way I'll go. I'll have to check the breech to see if the existing liner is a different diameter there.

I think I recall some thing about drilling out the chamber and lining it separately with a proper alloy plug then back drilling down the bore and through the plug.  Then redrilling for the liner clearance as a way of reworking an oversize or buggered up chamber. Huh Huh
