Rolling Block #2 Breech Seater Stud

On page 265 of "The Modern Schuetzen Rifle" there is a bit about a stud screwed into the side of the receiver to anchor a breechseater. Perhaps an elongated screw in place of the extractor retaining screw. What is the thread of that screw? Anyone know? 9/40?
I have the barrel removed from one of my #2's for relining and the side of the receiver is quite thin. It seems any screw that could anchor a b-s lever would have to go partly into the barrel.
   Are there any other options?

Thanks, Bill

I wouldn't feel comfortable using the extractor screw as a base for hooking my breech seater on. I think it's too small, and weak. It wouldn't take long to snap it off, and then you're in big trouble.
If I wanted to not modify my receiver, I'd either use a push seater like the Stevens or Ideal, or figure some way to hook a seater on the Rolling block action.

Yes the extractor screw doesn't have much to hang on to. If I put a stud on the right side of the receiver and into the barrel there is plenty of metal before reaching the chamber, even on the 38-40. Just looking for some possibility I may have overlooked before I commit to anything. I tried the push seater idea, and even with a big knob seating a 25-20 86gr.was tough.

Thanks, Bill

You might have a new hammer pivot pin made that allows a stud to be attached to either, or both ends of the pivot pin that your seater can hook to.
That way you can always re-install the original pivot pin, and the action is not permanently altered.

Yes, a push seater isn't easy to use. I've seen guys at matches using a rubber mallet to tap their push seater, and seat bullets, but I always wondered what effect hammering the bullet into the bore might have?
