Non breech loaders not allowed? Well maybe not at Etna Green. Venture to The Glasgow MT Summer Heat match in August where anyone can enter into the Percussion rifle match. For those that still have there MLrs that is.
Could probably shoot the whole match with a MLr. Best be in good shape to do that.
Shameless plug.
Joe.

Section 1.0†† Single Shot Rifle
A single shot rifle is defined as a breech loading cartridge rifle without magazine or provision for additional cartridges, in which the action must be operated, and in which a cartridge or shell must be manually inserted for each shot.

As I use socket head screws on my front rests. Did a bit of research and find that the idea has been around since just after the civil war and the Allen drive was patented in 1910. Therefor they do fit as traditional fasteners.

I almost have my muzzle rest built. But, I need to know how to mount the deer whistles. Better facing forward, or to the sides? We don't have enough tree huggers with them attached to get any feedback around here. We just try to miss the mulies (with the car, not the rifle). I am happy to know that I can replace all the screws on my toys with allen heads, and make things more beautiful and traditional at the same time. I sure do like this thread! Pat

Very nice looking rest indeed and for those in the process of making one the goal should be to have the lowest center of gravity as is possible so you are not adding leverage and amplifying the effects of the torque.

Lowest CG of the assembly or of the rest?
Does this warrant denser or less dense material?

CW you want to keep the barrel as close to the top of the rest as is possible. This in my book would be the ideal design but more challenging to make. Notice how the out riggers are center line of the barrel and the feet are free to rotate. I believe the design allows for the use of a variety of materials with Brass possibly being one of the better choices.
