This is my Winchester 1885 (Japan) BPCR. This coloring looks like the cynide dip you are speaking about?

CPA Gail responds!!!

We did work on that rifle about 10 years ago including a new stock and barrel and case coloring.  The customer had requested wider stripes, which is more typical of very early Stevens so perhaps that was what he was looking for.
