Finally got around to replacing the crosshairs in my 12x Unertil 1 1/4" varmint scope.  I bought the 0.0005" wire from Dan Staglarone.  It was so fine I had 2 sets of closeup glasses on, and still had to have very bright light in just the right location to see the wire.  Feeling it in my hand was an issue too.  I first replaced only the broken wire, and found the old wire was probably 0.001", so replaced them both.  It only took me half the 10' of wire supplied, so I can do another one with the wire on hand (lol).  Next time, I'll put tape on the end of the wire; that will help keep track of it.

I've used .001 and .0005 tungsten wire , and unwaxed dental floss broken down to one thin fiber. They all have worked. If you tighten the screws too much they will cut any of the strands. cmargs.
