It sure looks like it has vee threads instead of square threads for the barrel tenon. Is this possible?

Butch,
Every Remington or Remington licensed rolling block I've seen has had square threads. The Whitney's also had square threads. The Pedersoli actions have "V" threads. It could possibly be one of the Belgian knock offs.

Steven,
I have an Enfield and a Springfield and they definitely have square threads. This receiver has Remington and the patent dates on the top of the rear tang. That is the only markings on the receiver.

DeHaas shows V threads in the No-4 solid frame action on page 329 of Single Shot Rifles and Actions. Only Remington with them he shows. Hope this helps.

Butch,
It's a new one on me. I have been known to be wrong before.

What size are the threads?

I worked on a very early large frame roller that had V threads. Anything is possible.

My #4 has "V" threads, my 1867 Dane does not have any threads.
