I would consider Axel Peterson’s work on a par with the best of the golden age smiths. All of the barrels that were made during Peterson’s partnership with Schoyen were marked as Schoyen. In truth many of those barrels were made by Peterson. The barrels were a product of the partnership and were marked as Schoyen because he had the reputation. I know of no one who returned a barrel because of Peterson’s work.

I would definitely consider any Axle Peterson single shot rifle an investment piece, and especially the one pictured! The condition is great, and it's a beautiful rifle!

That is the finest of the fine...... Value is difficult to determine because people just don't sell rifles like that very often. I would value it at the top end. Look at past auctions. Last nice 51 I saw went for 19k. And that's a nice one for sure.
