Vihtavuori powder and the 32-40

Since my introduction to breech seating bullets in the 32-40 I've used a few different powders. IMR4227 for the most part, some 5744, and more recently AA#9. It has been suggested to me to try 4100 and or Enforcer. I have yet to hear of anyone using powders of a similar burning rate in the Vihtavuori brand. A look at the burning rate chart shows N105, N110, and N120 in the same area of burning rate as the a fore mentioned IMR & AA powders. In my experience with Vihtavuori powders in modern center fire rifles they are of very high quality. Yes they tend to be harder to find and a little more expensive, but have proven worth it in several cases. Would like to hear from anyone that has tried them in the 32-40 or the 25-20SS what your experience / thoughts are.

I experimented with N110. It shoots very clean and showed promise at first but in the end #9, WC 820, 4100 and Enforcer all shot better than the N110. Given the relative costs I went back to the ball powders.

40rod, Thanks for the reply. #9, 4100 and Enforcer are not to be found in my neck of the woods. Have been told that 300MP is also good. Can't find that either. I'll keep looking.

I have a bunch of older VVpowder that I picked up at an estate sales. I know its basically a pistol powder but thought it might work ok, but finding load data on 2 or 3 generations-old VV is a bit tough.  but the price was real right Roll Eyes

I had used some VV on in my .260 Rem (the 6.5x.308 Redding wildcat) and in a 6.5x55 swede in a very limited amount.  I liked it exert for the $$$$$
