WTB or borrow a  set of schematics for the WR 97 action if anyone has a set or can direct me to a site.  Thanks,

JR,
Probably your best bet would be to buy or get on Library Loan a copy of Wal Winfers book on Westley Richards Falling Block British Single Shot Rifles. I forget which volume number it is (there are seven or eight volumes in all. You'll find more into in there than in the rest of the information available from a all sources. Try a Library Loan first, these books are not inexpensive.  Roll Eyes

Thanks, Harry.  I have all the volumes but I also have two semi-completed actions out of 8620 and was looking for something a little more complete.

I found that the CD "Building the Farquharson Action" was the most helpful in building the WR1897 action.
It contains drawings, instructions, setups and photos of the whole process of building the action from castings. I understand that the castings are no longer available but maybe the CD is still available. Try calling Gary Robertson in Trinidad 1-719-846-7362.
If you can't get a copy, you can borrow mine or if you have a specific question, I should be able to help you, as I've built two of these actions.

Thank you, Otto.  We copied ours off of an original and another gunsmith fabricated these to an unfinished stage.  Should not be too difficult for Shon to take it all the way with this video.  Will give him a call.

I'd like to correct an error in my previous post. Mrs. Robertson named her son Gorton and not Gary.
The CD was produced by Leonard Bull and Gordon Robertson in support of their action casting business and a course that they offered at Trinidad in building the WR 1897 action from castings. It appears as if their castings and business are no longer available.
Their instructions on building a WR 1897 action from castings should be equally helpful in building one from bar stock. I'll send you my CD

Hi Chipmaker,

I'd like to buy (or make) a copy of your CD.   I'd like to have the drawings from it.  If you can't make a copy I'd be happy to copy it myself.  I'd be happy to cover postage both ways, plus whatever you'd like for your trouble.

Thanks,

Dewey
